Thoughts on "The Republic of Osmanistan"?

  1. The Ottoman Empire gets conquered by Arabs or Russians
  2. The Osmanoğlu family gets wiped off the face of the Earth by the conquerors
  3. Centuries later, a rebellion establishes "The Republic of Osmanistan" which speaks a language called "Osmance" (endomym) or "Osmani" (exonym)
  4. People speak of the glory of Osman the Great and his dynasty, but the country definitely isn't a monarchy anymore and never will be again. Kind of like Kazakhs and Uzbeks speaking of the Khans of old...
Just an interesting idea I had. I always see people with maps where the country is called "Ottomania" or something like that, and of course that's not a realistic name for the natives to use, but I wonder about the comparative plausibility of "Osmanistan" + "dynasty got eradicated therefore it's not a controversial name"

With a post-1900 POD there is no way anyone will call themselves after the Ottoman dynasty.
And there are a lot of dynasties in histories yet once they die new states usually aren't called by that name, they'll more likely choose something else.
