Carriers got named for battles or famous ships of the Old Navy (Until OTL with USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42) in 1945). Cruisers were named for cities (until the Los Angeles class SSNs in the 1970s)...It could be named after the battle to take Salt Lake City.
At least a couple of cruisers from OTL were named after cities in US Territories like USS Juneau and USS Honolulu,Just noticed that CA-25 is Salt Lake City: given the "Troubles" in Utah, would the Navy name a ship for that city?
I think it was Bermuda and the Bahamas. I don't think the USA got any French islands or the other British islands. I honestly wished that there was a POV character from the Marines; either US or CS where they were involved in an island hopping campaign in the Caribbean.Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the U.S. just get the Bahamas after the 1st GW? The other British-along with the French- Caribbean islands didn't go to the U.S. until after the end of the 2nd GW.
